  • March 10, 2015 Paul Sweeny has been awarded the OBA Award for Distinguished Service. This award recognizes exceptional career contributions and achievements by members of the OBA to the legal profession, legal jurisprudence and the development of law in Ontario. Paul will receive his award at the OBA Annual Awards Gala in Toronto on April 23rd.

  • February 9, 2015 John Evans sponsored the Nelson Mandela Youth Award at the John C. Holland Gala Awards Dinner hosted by the Hamilton Black History Committee. The Mandela Award was presented to Nerine Dat Sookram, founder of Active Vision, an immigrant settlement organization in Waterloo Region, and host of a weekly Caribbean radios show.

  • November 20, 2014 The 13th Annual Sopinka United Way Luncheon was held at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel. Those in attendance enjoyed hearing from Justice Michael J. Moldaver of the Supreme Court of Canada. Justice Kendra Coats received the John Evans Award of Community Distinction. Next year’s luncheon will take place on November 20, 2015. The featured speaker will be Justice Richard Wagner from the Supreme Court of Canada.
